I went with Bill Goldberg....all the others were bit players to me - Goldberg was the one good homegrown thing that WCW came up with, that you felt like you were actually watching some kind of phenomenon. He had a legit main event vibe/aura to his matches....that is something WCW almost never had in this era....it always just felt like they'd bankrolled a bunch of wrestling stars to show up and go through the motions, with the PPV and Nitro main events just being randomly put together matches between stars that were fresh against each other BUT with no build or effort on anyones part....
I don't care about Big Bill being limited in the ring....he suited his role perfectly, and should've been the biggest star in the industry. They f****d it up....

I went with Sting, just because he's always been my favourite WCW guy, the fact that he stayed loyal to WCW when it seemed like everyone was jumping back and forth between WWF and WCW, and I think he was one of the things that kept people watching Nitro.

nothing in wrestling can top Sting being lowered on the cable from the rafters and whooping the poo poo out of the NWO all by himself. Goldberg's run was awesome, but Sting owned 1997, and that was without ever wrestlsing one match prior to Starrcade '97.

I had to go with Hogan as much as it pained me. He was one of the main reasons WCW kicked the WWE to the curb in the Monday night wars for awhile.

But I think the interest in that deal actually peaked before the match, and Sting was never quite as hot after that or more specifically, once the match started....

Yeah, but by the same token, Goldberg was not the same once Kevin Nash ended his streak at Starrcade '98. Goldberg was awesome up to that point, but after he lost the world belt, WCW couldn't figure out how to best use him after that. At his height, Goldberg and Hogan put 30,000 + into the Georgia Dome, but it wasn't enough to keep WCW hot past '98. 1999 was when things started going downhill and down they went fast.

Without Hogan and the NWO (Hall & Nash) no one would have cared about Sting or Goldberg at that point. Honestly, how many WWE fans would have turned the chanel to Nitro?

I agree, which is why I voted for Goldberg as well. WCW caught lightning in the bottle with him but ultimately blew it. Then again WWE dropped the ball with Goldberg years later so WCW aren't the only ones who messed up.

Yeah, but like I said they messed up totally. He was never booked the same after Starrcade '98 - and whilst the winning streak should've come to an end at somepoint, losing to Nash at Starrcade '98 was not the time nor place. Nash would never in his life draw as a top single in the same way Goldberg did, and it was the beginning of the end in terms of the politics overriding common sense.... Goldberg was the top guy, the phenomenon that could match Austin, but they just killed it....

I would have to say Hogan. I watched whatever company he was with. WWF from 84-92 and WCW thereafter. He will forever be the man that put wrestling on the map.

Kimberly Page ;D
Bill Goldberg, DDP and Sting are my three favorite WCW produced stars of all time. So I have a hard time picking. I know that a lot of people have argued over Bagwell, but he was extremely popular. He wasn't bad, I wasn't a huge fan of his though.
