We would have never seen the Bunkhouse Stampede, Clash of the Champions, etc.

What If Jim Crockett gave the book back to George Scott in the early part of 1987? ?? I'd like to think we could've been having the NWA Hall of Fame ceremony this weekend instead.

I've been pondering this since reading the question yesterday. I just dunno if it would've made that much of a difference. Clearly Vince had the money to do what he was already on the path to doing. Perhaps we still would have NWA/WCW, but I just think they were set on the path of self-destruction. I would love to be optimistic about that fantasy that NWA would've taken over the world like WWF/WWE ultimately did. I just don't think booking was the only problem. They really seemed to want to emulate what Vince was doing at the time, and I believe we're all in agreement that what he did was kill wrestling as we knew and loved it. Sure, I've been "out of the loop" a long while, but I've been able to see that this is close enough to the truth. Perhaps I've missed some things here, but I dunno. It would've been awesome to be wathing the NWA HoF this weekend, though. That's 100% correct!

Ole was a good booker no doubt, but I dont think anyone was better the George Scott in his heyday. South Carolina, from what I can tell, was an interesting situation when Ole had the book. For awhile he was booking Georgia, and would mesh the Georgia and MidAtlantic talent on some of the cards. That had to be awesome.
But in the northern part of MACW, you saw a little bit of that. I think Bob Armstrong took on Roddy Piper in Norfolk or something once, but not to the degree of what SC got. Then again, I would image booking and travel considerations played into it as well.
But no matter, that 74-84 span in MACW was about as good as anything in professional wrestling, in my opinion, before or after. They just dont make 'em like that anymore.

perhaps the Black Scorpion angle would not have been ruined by it being Ric Flair underneath the mask.
Perhaps Halloween Havoc '90 main event would not have been ruined with Barry Windham being dressed up as Sting look alike.
Perhaps we never would've had to put up with an idiot named Jim Herd running the show
Perhaps Ric Flair would've been treated better

Funk Sr., Shire, Graham, Scott, and Watts were the best North American bookers that the industry has ever seen imo.
With that said I believe more then likely that Scott had run his course.
To kick off 1987 I would've made Bill Watts an offer he couldn't refuse in regards to the pencil. The Bill Watts template spun by "Fill in the blank". Much like Watts did for several years in Mid South. He built the ship to his liking and was always on board while other captains sailed it with his approval.
