Looking for an old friend, "BeastMaster" Rick Link. I recently visted his website, but it looks as if he hasn't checked his messageboard in about six months. Rick is a great guy, and deserved a shot in the NWA. Had Flair not tried to break his leg in New Zealand, Rick would have probably been signed to a contract. If anyone knows where he is, post and let me know. Thanks!

I don't know about Flair trying to break his leg, he told me that he worked Lars Anderson on the tour and Flair told him anytime he neede a job to give him a call. But he is still living in Lexington, N.C. . He worked a show there in October of last year.

I think that Rick Link runs a wrestling school/camp in NC.

Rick and I go back about eight years or so, we used to frequent the same club often. I know he's still living in Lexington, as I'm only a half hour or so from there, but I haven't heard about him wrestling locally. He used to frequently check his website and respond, but hasn't since August or so of last year. Right after I met Rick, he was telling us a story one night, about the infamous 1983 New Zealand NWA tour.(This is the tour where the "phantom" title change between Flair and Harley Race took place, but wasn't acknowledged until the late 90's) Anyway, Rick got a match with Flair, and told Ric that he was having problems with his knee. Ric went for the figure four, and locked it in. Link told him to let up, because he was in pain- but he refused. Link told us that he beat Flair within an inch of his life, lost by DQ, and the NWA withdrew his contract offer because of it. I don't know, but Rick always told things pretty straight. Hope that answers your question, and take care.

Rick still lives here in Lexington, and I talked to a wrestling manager yesterday, and he told me that Rick still works various Indy circuits around here. I went to school with him but, didn't know him personally. We all know that he was big into wrestling back then. The first time I saw him wrestle was on TV, he was wrestling in the IWA. His name then was "Sir Rickton Link" from London England, anyway that day he wrestled none other than "Dick the Bulldog Brower" Rick didn't win that day but he got over big with us because he was one of our classmates. I would love to have a tape of that match from back then!

The Beastmaster worked with NACW out of Wilmington for awhile in 02 and 03. He and Abdullah put on the mother of all hardcore matches for a 'crowd' of about 20 people in Trenton a couple of years ago. They spent about 2 minutes in the ring. They beat the living bejeebers out of each other, scared one little girl so bad she was on her daddy's shoulder crying her eyes out. I dont who tried (foolishly) to call Mick Foley the king of hardcore. But I'd submit Mr. Link and Abdullah as 1 and 1A and those would be interchangeable.

Rick is still in Lexington, NC. Works very sporadic dates here and there but not working much. I always update the website when he sends me upcoming show dates or anything, but over the last 2 or so years that's been only once or twice a year.

I saw Rick Link vs. Abdullah at a New Demension Wrestling card at the racetrack in Concord, NC in the late 90s. It was a bloodfest. The main event that night was Buddy Landell vs Tully Blanchard.
