The following comes from an NFL Network column in The Fayetteville Observer about why Time-Warner Cable doesn't carry the network:
“They’re only carrying eight games,” said Brad Phillips, “and they’re out-of-market games. If customers want to see the (Carolina) Panthers, they’re not going to miss any of the Panthers games.” Phillips serves as vice president for government and public affairs with Time Warner Cable in Raleigh.
That's one of the reasons he gives. Another is NFL Network costs too much and they want it on the sports tier and not an optional tier.
I think the guy needs to understand that there are more than Panthers fans in North Carolina and, uh, they actually show 4 other games per week in 90-minute recaps. Some of those could be games that you don't get in the area.

i live in this state and i hate the atlanta braves. why? because that team has been shoved down my throat for the past lifetime i have know about baseball. i was always a houston astros fan and could never see them play unless they were against the braves. i got so disgusted after 20 plus years, i have no use for baseball at all now. i don't give a crap about it now. i could never see anybody but the braves and who they were against.... same thing with football. just cause i live here does not make me want to see one team all the time. if he only wants panther games to be shown, then i call him an idiot.

Amen, Bobby!! I am a Dodger fan myself, and unless they are playing the Braves, or the Cubbies, its a no go. And as a loyal Steeler fan, I don't like having the Panthers shoved down my throat also. I don't like the rule where if the panthers are playing on fox at 1, the cbs 1 o'clock game is replaced with paid programing. Sometimes the steelers game is the one that I loose because of this. I guess I could get the NFL Sunday Ticket, but I don't want to give them two hundred and some odd dollars a year for the right to watch the Steeler games.

i agree. not to sway the subject to baseball, but i was constantly told by newspapers, tv channels, everybody that the braves were my local team and that was why.....!!!!!I DON"T HAVE A LOCAL TEAM !!!! six hours away is not local to me!!!! if that were a true statement, then why wasn't the orioles shoved down my throat as well when i am just as far from baltimore as i am atlanta??? people just don't like it when you use intelligence against their rules..... now, granted..as much as i hate it, i have to agree that the panthers ARE my local football team now. so, in that way of thinking, i can see the guys point...to a degree. but no, we shouldn't have to pay hundreds of dollars to see the teams we want to see. after all, paying $60 plus is way too much for TV in the first place. with that kind of price, we should be able to watch whatever we have access to for that fee.
