Since I enjoy watching the Durham Bulls play so much (I attend roughly 15 games a year) I pull for the Devil Rays. For the hell of it I wish any Sox or Yankee fan would compare salaries with this team and then you will see why as long as there is no cap that my team will never come close to a division title. How fair is this? I understand you pull for who you pull for but damn its frustrating. Thank goodness for the oddsmakers because if you bet the Rays every time they play the Yankmees you will win money. I know cause I have. Hell, the yankmees were a -240 fave against the Tigers the other day. MLB needs a cap bad. Break up LOS TIGRES!!! And, can you explain baseball odds to me? Obviously I understand football, basketball, etc. But what does -240 mean? Obviously not the number of runs? I've never bet on baseball (insert Pete Rose joke) so I have always wondered what that number meant.

As of right now, Leyland and company are doing a pretty good job of beating the Yanks.

Baseball is tough on players and bookies. If you were to bet $100 on the Yanks, at -240, you lose $240.00.You would haved exactly doubled your money if betting Detroit because Detroit was +200.

Hell, the yankmees were a -240 fave against the Tigers the other day. MLB needs a cap bad. Nonsense. The same things were said about Minnisota, Oakland, San Diego, Philly, Detroit, Cinncinatti and probably a couple of other cities I'm forgetting. All those teams either won or were in contention for a playoff spot this year (OK, Cincy was barely in contention in a weak division) You can't complain a string of 90+ loss seasons on the Yankees payroll. That is due to incompetence in the organization. Detroit lost 119 games 3 years ago, but they had a plan, and stuck to it. Same with Oakland. Minnisota is finally seeming to invest in their team, and it is paying off. Toronto did the same thing, and it is about to pay off. The Rays play in a terrible stadium, haven't had a long term plan and have owners that seem fairly clueless. Tampa Bay was begging for a team for over a decade, the market is still growing, and it should be an awesome place for a team, but they need to invest a bit first. A salary cap is not the be all end all. Look at the NBA. How many different francises win their title? Or the NFL? I will compromise though. If there is a cap, there needs to be a floor. Say, 120 at the top, 40 at the bottom, with some exceptions for your own free agent resignings at the top end and rebuilding at the bottom. But unless the owners are willing to reinvest in the clubs, there is no reason for the cap.

Why yes, infact, MY beloved Detroit Tigers did so, and also sent the Oakland A's(and the big turd) back to Oakland. ;D ;D
Now, before anyone cries "Bandwagon fan":
I'm from Mt Clemens, (which is a suburb of Detroit-born and raised till age 25, then I moved to NV), I went to 2 games of the '84 WS and 1 game of the '87 ALCS, I'm a DIE HARD Detroit everything fan(except MSU). You're basically born a die hard of all Detroit teams if you were born and raised there. Most of the time, it was always the Tigers/Wings and Wolverines we rooted for. But, over the years, all our teams except for the shitty Lions have done something great! I doubt the Lions will ever do anything special.
I've sat through years of: ****ty trades, shitty players, and ****ty teams, and Im proud to say Im glad for the city of Detroit, Myself and for ALL of the other Tigers fans that we're going to the big dance. We deserve it.
Time to bring the WS back to the big "D". ;D
