I really need to vent somewhere after watching "ECW", no I will not call it ECW because that is not even close to what was put on tv last night. Im sure a lot of people on this board have given up on current national wrestling, but I had to admit for the last couple of months I was looking forward to what could have possibly been ahead with the "New ECW". For the people that saw last night's show, which I hope weren't many, WWE put on the biggest steaming pile of crap I have ever seen. 1. The first match with the "Zombie" was actually kind of funny and enjoyable, just as a rib on everyone that was expecting sci-fi and wrestling to mix. 2. The stuff with Edge and Cena was horrible. I could see the production meeting now. "What's the best way to start and get over a new brand, I know let's have our boy band champion come out and take out 3 ECW stars, and kill any momentum that they could ever have". 3. Making Justin Credible get completely squashed in 90 seconds was heartbreaking. Anyone that followed ECW towards the end of their run, knows Justin can have a good match with anyone and was ECW Champion and that's the best he can get. 4. Finally the battle royal was so lame and far from "Extreme". I'm not expecting or wanting to see thumbtacks and fire every match, but don't degrade the violence aspect of "ECW" and hit each other with cookie sheets for 15 mins. I know it's only been one show but I dont have much hope that change is coming, and if i'm right on that than I just wish Vince would let ECW die so it doesn't hurt the legacy of what we ECW fans remember that company to be. So in closing, Raw sucks, Smackdown is horrible, TNA looks like old WCW, and now ECW is ruined. Sorry this post got long and preachy but I had to get this off my chest.

This ain't ECW. Anyone watching the show could tell that Angle + Show are the only ones who are getting pushed, and the ECW guys are all booked to be clowns. Can't say I'm surprised. They still have the wrong idea of what ECW was - it wasn't about a bunch of guys walking in circles and hitting each other with trash can lids every 5 seconds. It was about taking pride in your work and bringing out the best in yourself. I'll still watch just because I can see guys like Sabu on a regular basis, but yeah, it was the worst ECW show I've ever seen.

It will be interesting to see what the TV ratings will be next week. This week were good because of the interest, the newness. With how bad it's being panned by the media, fans and, even the workers, boy it could get ugly in a hurry.

It all sucks...wrestling as I knew is DEAD. It's sad for the fans and even worse for the workers that sometimes flip the channel over to WWE to see their crap. Vinnie has killed it all.

There is good wrestling, from time to time, on the indy circuit, but in general, I can't argue with your analysis.

Honestly I expected all the ECW Shows before Vengeance to be bad, and full of RAW Crossover. RVD has the WWE Belt and until they put it back on Edge or Cena, both of them are going to be showing up on ECW and vice versa.
After that I expect things to change a bit. One thing I don't get is everyones complaints about Vampires and stuff on the show. Wrestling has always, ALWAYS had stuff like that, its just part of it. Hell, Tony Marino used to dress up like Batman. Does it take away from the show? Maybe in some peoples eyes, but keep in mind some people love gimmicks like this, and for a wrestling show to truly succeed it needs to reach out to as many people as possible. As long as there is good wrestling, along with freaks, gimmicks and the like, then what does it matter? Hell give me midgets, Giants, vampires and wrestling machines, and I will be happy. If everyone and everything is the same then where is the fun?

mr kimmel ecw wasn't about stupid gimmicks. it was straightforward angles. pro wrestling is in the drapper now. times change, but giving fans what they want is never going to happen.

Two words: Vince McMahon. Three more: He really sucks. I knew when the word going around that ECW was coming back, I knew that there was no way it would even come close to what it was once before. I knew watching it the other night (and yeah, I do watch WWE regularly, mostly because there are moments of great wrestling) that those folks that hold the memory of ECW fondly in their hearts would be retching over this. Even I, someone not familiar with ECW beyond The Rise and Fall and some matches dle'd from the Internet, could tell that it was a joke. Even The Zombie and vampire that was intended to be a real joke, fell so flat. Not to mention the fact that from everything I have seen of ECW, the only way for it to truly be ECW is for it to be in front of a real ECW crowd. Clearly the folks were there for SD, and not ECW. I do hope that it will work itself out, but I doubt it.

If they really want it to work, they will tape every TV show in the old ECW Arena or the Hammerstein (sp?) Ballroom for a significant period of time until they get the guys over again to the mass audience. (They are obviously over like crazy with their small core audience.) Half of the magic of ECW to begin with was the hot crowds that were so into the product and the wrestlers. Taping their TV at Raw and Smackdown events is sure death (and I'm betting there are more people than we might guess within the WWE organization that really want this to fail.)

My thoughts exactly. I said that taping it with Smackdown wouldn't work. They need the crowd, the boys (not the WWE guys) and the whole atmosphere to get it over.

Then again, after watching the worst RAW of all time (Return of DX).....ECW on SciFi is looking better and better all the time!
What a waste of time Raw was. HBK looked just plain stupid trying to act cool. Other than the Sabu launch off the top rope, there was not much else to write home about. Now I know why Vince left.
