This was the first WWE-produced PPV I've ordered since 1998.
I thought it was a good show, almost as good as last year (which I saw on dvd for the first time a month ago).
Lawler vs Tazz - It was short, as expected. When I realized Lawler wasn't tapping, I as like "what the hell?!?". I don't see why he couldn't have tapped.
Angle vs Orton - Although I didn't like the idea of these guys being on this show, I thought it was very good and the match of the night. At times the fans both helped and hurt the match.
FBI vs Tajiri + Crazy - Good match. I'm surprised Mamaluke didn't take any of his trademark sick bumps. Of course, WWE reared it's ugly head at the end when Big Show came out and killed everyone. That's the thing about the old ECW - they protected their guys. They didn't sacrifice their undercard workers in such a fashion to the top guys.
Sabu vs Rey - I liked Rey's old school look. Match was going good, until the finish. I knew Sabu was going for the DDT through the table the minute I saw Rey stand up on it. First time I saw him do that spot was with Mikey Whipwreck in 1996. The finish was lame. It protected both from doing a job, but it left the match on a flat note. Good while it lasted though.
Funk + Dreamer vs Foley + Edge - I loved Foley's promo as always. I was laughing for 2 minutes after he put over Stephanie McMahon. I didn't mind it becoming a 6-man, because it did save Funk or Dreamer from doing the expected job, and the women stayed out of the way for the most part. Good match.
Mahoney vs Tanaka - Decent. Anti-climactic finish, since when is one chairshot enough to take Tanaka out? I guess it's better than killing him with the shots though.
RVD vs Cena - Great crowd, good match. Cena seemed lost at times, as if the crowd really was getting to him. Or maybe he intended himself to appear that way. Loved the chants. Hated the finish. It was obviously just designed to give the fans a cheap pop, and moreso, to build controversy for the tv debut on Tuesday.
I was a big fan of ECW in it's prime, and am optomistic, yet skeptical, of it's comeback. Personally, I love the idea for nostalgia reasons. But I have a feeling that the old ECW regulars are only going to be around long enough to give it the ECW feel. In a year, I bet most won't be around, and it will be like RAW "turned up a notch." I certainly hope that isn't the case.
