How did everyone like Maryland?

My wife and I had a great time at the convention when it started, but could care less about ever going back to Maryland. What do you all think?

Keep in mind that Rockville is more Washington, DC than it is Maryland.

Personally, I didn't care for the traffic between Strasburg, VA-Rockville, MD. Rockville, MD and everything in that area was good for me. The DoubleTree Hotel, was super nice.

Nothing against the state but I could do without the midnight bar closings.

As for the hotel, I was not that fond of it.

The water in the room came out black and I had to wait 5-10 minutes before it was clear (and this was a daily thing). It sounded like a bowling alley upstairs, every morning at 5. The breakfast buffet was less than thrilling for the price.

However, even with the hotel being less than adequate, the con was great.

I go to a lot of conventions on the East Coast, but nothing is like beign at home. I had never been to that Hotel, so it was totally awesome. I loved the waterfall. I had said to my friend later when I got home "Wouldn't it be so funny, if the waterfall cost more than the rest of the hotel."

I'm begging the promoters to bring it back to the same place next year. I like the hotel rooms with the windows too. That was a nice classy little joint.

BTW, to the guy with the ECW in the window, kudos. There was something else in the window, too. But I don't remember, I remember laughing though.

the fanfest was excelent, the hotel was nice, but i just didnt like the Rockville area. I like the Hilton in Charlotte much better.

Amen! Can't wait til next year in Charlotte. Don't get me wrong guys, I loved the convention and talking with some of you, but we just didn't have a very good experience in Rockville. I've been to both of the Charlotte FF, and had the time of my life. We will be there next year. Hope to see you all there.

I liked this hotel much better than Charlotte. The underground parking was great for quick access to my vehicle, the breakfast buffet, while expensive, was better than most hotel food I've found. It was fine for the convenience. The staff was very nice, can't speak for others, but my room (5th floor) was wonderful. But I can see how rooms on the 1st and 2nd floor would have been less than satisfactory.

The traffic on I-95 and I-495 was miserable, especially leaving on Sunday.

Maryland is a great state; I love Baltimore and the inner harbor area. DC and surrounding area (which Rockville is part of) would be near the bottom of a long list of places I'd want to live or visit regularly. But as someone said above, don't judge Maryland by Rockville.

HH, great choice on the hotel itself.
